Day 32: One last post about conference... maybe. It was wonderful this year and there were so many talks that I wanted to have heard all over the world by everyone, but I think I will settle with this one. Our prophet gave us a message of love and my favorite quote from the day: " Love is the very essence of the gospel and Christ is our exemplar."
This conference we were given various messages instructing us in faith and how to strengthen it, trials and how to use them for our benefit, about courage to stand up for what is right, many testimonies of Christ and his atonement and of the restoration of the gospel. I have been uplifted and encouraged. I feel strengthened and ready to face the choices and challenges of the world again. I loved our prophet's message of love, I feel it is something that is being quickly forgotten as we become more and more self absorbed with ourselves and our opinions.
Here is the whole talk (Maybe... if it doesn't show up then choose Thomas S. Monson's talk on the Sunday Morning session):https://www.lds.org/general-conference/watch/2014/04?lang=eng&vid=3438391980001&cid=11
If you didn't watch any of conference this year, at least take 15 minutes to watch this little part of it. #Lentchallenge2014 #40daysoftruth

Day 32: Where is your faith?

Day 32: If you want to communicate with God, you have to initiate the conversation. You have to pray.
God is always aware of us, always near us, always willing to help. But one of the main purposes of us leaving his presence and coming to earth to live is to learn how to act in faith.
Faith is why we do not remember our life before our birth. It is why God has asked us to pray. Prayer is our act of faith. Faith that someone is listening; that God is there.
If you want to receive truth from God you must speak with Him. We pray to the Father, as Christ taught us in the Lord's prayer. We express gratitude in our prayer, we pour out the concerns of our heart, we ask for blessings for others and for ourselves, and we humbly submit to the will of God. We close all prayer in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
A prayer is not a recitation of a written scripture or prayer. It is a conversation with your Heavenly Father. Use your own words, He is your Father. A prayer can be spoken, it can be unspoken uttered only within your heart, just make it your words, and make it sincere.
I know every prayer is heard, every prayer is answered, in God's time. God wants to talk with you, He is just waiting for you to kneel before Him and start the conversation. He needs to see your faith before He can reveal Himself. He will reveal Himself to all who humbly seek Him.
