Day 30: I was reminded today by my dear friend Jesse Lee Enterline what a joy and blessing it is to have someone to love selflessly... or at least to help me learn how to do such a thing. In our church marriage is so important. Last week I volunteered to be on a panel for a class on Mormonism that was being taught on campus. One of the students asked me why I decided to get married so young. I gave the answer that in the church families are important and take priority in life, including starting a family. I wish I had added why families are so important.
I love this mormon message because I realize that while I learned a lot from the family I grew up in, I am learning even more from the family that I have started with Andrew Miles... and we don't even have kids yet! I've said it before, but families help us learn those Christ like attributes that bring us closer to our Father. They help us return to Him. They are a HUGE part of his great plan. They should take priority in this life. They should be pushing you to be a kinder, selfless, serving, patient person and you should be helping them do the same. You should be loving them and making it a point to do so every day!
I love my family, a lot. I am so grateful for the gospel that was taught in my home growing up and for the selfless love that my parents showed for each other and for me. I am grateful that that kind of love continues to be shown to me by my sweet husband. I try so hard to be just as loving and selfless as he is, but he has set the bar pretty high! And some days I can forget that my job is to love and not complain or focus only on my needs/wants.
On that note, I won't be able to post tomorrow. I'm meeting my lover in Charlotte for a "mega date" or if you prefer a "tiny trip." I've been told that there won't be any internet... but there will be a pool!

Day 30: Wasn't sure what to post today until I saw these beautiful photos. They are quotes from the messages shared with us at last week's LDS General Women's Meeting- a meeting where all the women of the church ages 8 and up were invited to attend.
Aren't they uplifting?
It's just a sample of the many talks and topics that will be shared with us this weekend.
While there I couldn't help but feel privileged to know, and I mean truly know, that I am a precious daughter of God AND that I am important to Him.

Day 30: Temples are a place for revelation.
I believe God speaks to His children while we are on earth. I believe in revelation. For my last ten days I am going to discuss revelation, and how we can learn truth for ourselves. I am not going to go into a lot of detail in this post...but just wait for the next ten days!
God wants to speak to His children, but we have to prepare ourselves to hear Him. Temples have all of the elements you need if you want to prepare yourself to receive revelation.
In a temple you find:
- A place to be still
- A place for quite reflection
- A place for service
- A place for learning
Also if you are able to enter a temple you know your lifestyle is inline with God's commandments.
All of these elements are necessary to receive revelation. You can receive revelation anywhere. But a temple is an easy place to receive revelation because the temple environment creates the perfect conditions for hearing and receiving God.
I know God still speaks to His children. I know He is real, through revelation. I have not seen God. I have not heard His voice booming out of a bush. But He has communicated with me. I think He tries to communicate with all of His children. We just don't put ourselves in an environment where we can receive His communication.
I ask that you read the next ten days with an open mind. I believe truth comes from a variety of sources. I am a firm believer in science. (I was very close to making science my career.) I believe in the scientific method. I accept evolution, I accept the big bang. I also believe that God speaks to us through revelation. I search for truth where ever it may come.
I have found the temple to be one of the best places to receive clear communication from God. I know that God does reveal Himself to His children.
