Lent Challenge Day 26

Day 26: I'm sorry, I have had a really full and busy Sabbath today (ha! day of rest...) Any way, I just want to share an opportunity to watch some of the messages that our women leaders have for us as daughters of God. I haven't been able to watch it all, but I love the messages that I have heard of the importance of our roles as women and the wonderful bond that we have with each other no matter the generational difference. I believe these women are inspired by God and I love to hear any of our leaders speak. Start preparing yourself for next week! We get to hear from prophets and apostles alllllll weekend long!  You are more than welcome to join! Just click here:https://www.lds.org/general-conference/watch/2014/04?lang=eng&vid=3386971559001

God speaks today through living prophets at general conference. As you study these messages, you will receive greater guidance in your daily life.

Day 26: Yesterday was a long post, I'll keep today short and simple.

There is nothing more reassuring to me to know that my family will be a family for eternity. That is the promise, it is up to each individual to stay worthy to do so. Nothing but our own actions and choices will break that seal. I will do my part to keep my family in tact.

Day 26: Our Heavenly Father provides for, presides, and protects His family through His Holy Priesthood.

The priesthood is how God provides for His children here on earth. God is not here with us, but He still wants to provide for our eternal needs. He still wants to protect, and preside over His family. He does this through the priesthood.

The priesthood is a special covenant God makes with His righteous sons. Righteous men throughout time have had the oath and the covenant of the priesthood. Jesus Christ conferred the priesthood and priesthood keys on His apostles before His final ascension into Heaven.

Men who hold the priesthood make a covenant with God that they:
- Are willing to receive the will of God in their lives
- Will spend their time providing the necessary saving covenants that all of God’s children need to return back to their Heavenly Father.
- Will protect Heavenly Father’s children from spiritual harm.
- Will preside, when given the appropriate priesthood keys, as God would preside if He were here with us.

God promises to give His power and authority to any of his righteous sons who stay true to the oath and the covenant of the priesthood.

If any of God’s children desires to make a covenant with God, the covenant must be performed by a holder of the priesthood. Without this authority, the covenant is not valid.

In 1829 Peter, James, and John appeared, as angels, to Joseph Smith and returned the priesthood to the earth. Today there are millions of righteous men on the earth who hold this priesthood authority, they can trace their authority back to Peter, James, and John, and through them to Jesus Christ.

These men do not seek power and dominion as the world defines power. Instead they spend their lives giving service. Providing and performing ordinances such as baptism, the sacrament (or communion), giving the gift of the holy ghost through the laying on of hands, and other ordinances and covenants that are necessary for God’s children return back to His presence.

They provide counsel, they give blessings, they heal the sick, they administer to the weary of heart. They spend their lives doing the work the Savior would do if He were here with us. These men are not “men of the cloth” they have regular every day jobs. They are fathers, brothers, and sons. But they have made a covenant with God that they will spend their days serving our Heavenly Father’s children, providing, presiding and protecting them, as if He were here with us.

And because they have made this covenant we are all blessed. My Heavenly Father has blessed me so much through His priesthood. I have been able to make covenants with Him, through His priesthood. I have received counsel from Him, through His priesthood. I have been protected from harm through the blessings and covenants of His priesthood.

I am grateful God has restored His priesthood here on the earth. And I am grateful God’s righteous son’s honor their covenant with God, I am blessed because of their righteousness. We all are blessed.
